A Miniskirt Suit for Grown-up Women

A yellow plaid miniskirt suit

Did you like the "Clueless"-themed ad that came out last month with Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz once again? Have you wondered if you can also pull off a plaid miniskirt suit as an adult?

The answer is yes as long as you've managed to stay fit since high school. We can style a plaid miniskirt suit in a more grown-up way. As you can see in my photo, black tights can replace over-the-knee socks to go with a plaid miniskirt for a more sophisticated look.

Miniskirts are still in despite the return of maxi skirts, but this year's miniskirts are generally low-rise. If you are not into midriff baring (which is unflattering to most adults), pick a low rise that's not too low and choose a top that covers your midsection. The top shouldn't be too long, however. The right length should hit just slightly below the low waist of the miniskirt, as demonstrated in my photo.

With these tips in mind, you don't have to wait until Halloween to put on a "Clueless"-inspired plaid miniskirt suit. While daffodils are in bloom as the birth flower of March, why not don a plaid miniskirt suit that matches their bright yellow?

Happy spring shopping!
